Joe Gallison - Biography

Joseph Gallison has given well over 2500 live, taped, and filmed performances in his long and varied career.  He is perhaps best known for his 17 year portrayal of Dr. Neil Curtis on “Days of Our Lives,” for which he received and Emmy nomination and was voted Favorite TV Doctor by viewers. 

Joe also starred in four other daytime dramas (or soaps) including “Another World,” where he was one-half of daytime’s first super couple, Bill & Missy.  He particularly enjoyed the first two years as they were performed live each day.  He also starred in “Return to Peyton Place,”Where the Heart Is” and “One Life To Live.” Joe has appeared in a dozen feature films, including “PT 109” and “Portrait of a Mobster,” and has guest-starred in over 30 episodic TV shows.

His extensive theatre experience includes a stroll on Broadway as the adult Patrick in “Mame” with Angela Lansbury.  Joe has also appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” and numerous other talk shows.

In addition to the coveted Emmy nomination, Joe has received the “Citation for Distinguished Attainment,” and “Outstanding Alumni Award” from Northeastern University, as well as the “Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Contributions to Daytime Drama” from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.  

Joe lives in Wilmington, NC, with his wife, Melisa and their three dogs.  He continues to act and plays in as many charity golf tournaments as time allows.  Joe performs regularly at historic Thalian Hall, including starring as Ben Franklin in “1776,”  the King in “Hamlet,” and roles in “Other People’s Money,” “Grand Hotel,” “The Gin Game,” “Golden Boy” and “Plaza Suite,” for which he received the Thalian Association’s Best Actor award.
